M3nsa & Kubolor Pulls Crowd At ‘Coz Ov Moni’ Premiere

Coz Ov Moni

History was made at the National Theatre last Saturday, where ‘Coz Ov Moni’, the first full pidgin musical film in the world was screened to a large crowd.

If am not mistaken, if you think of musicians M3nsa and Wanlov the Kubolor, ‘2 Stupid Dogs’, the American animated television series comes in mind. The mannerism of those two could be said to be on the same par with the ‘Coz Ov Moni’ stars.

‘Coz Ov Moni is a musical film which features M3nsa, the composer/rapper/producer and Wanlov Da Kubolor, who is seen around wearing skirt as the main characters. The likes of Samini, Reggie Rockstone, Macho Rapper, Mokin, Panji Anoff, Mutombo and others made cameo appearance.

As the first musical film, every dialogue is in a musical form. The movie was showed twice, 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

‘Coz Ov Moni’ was produced by Panji Anoff of Pidgin Music and directed by King Luu Vision. The movie tells a story of a real life situations in the lives of up coming musicians and it’s a must watch one especially, those who believes in originality.

The audience was packed to capacity as movie enthusiasts cheered, laughed and clapped throughout the movie. It sure wasn’t a disappointing movie.

Idea

‘Coz Ov Moni’ is a concept for musical album but they turned it into a musical film, so as to avoid doing music video for each of the track on the album. So all the tracks on the album was performed in the movie.

The Story

The ’Cos Ov Moni’ centered on two ‘hustle’ friends M3nsa and Wanlov. The story unfolds as they wake up in the morning with one thing on their mind; to collect a debt owed them by a wily friend.

After getting the money, they set off to blow it off on food, partying and women with hilarious and dramatic consequences. While going through the day, the story highlights real struggles of ordinary young Ghanaians in modern Ghana in spite of the strong elements of humour.

This film has already made its way into the following film festivals and events: Rio International Film Festival (Brazil), Pan African Film Festival (Los Angeles), Black Filmmakers International Film Festival (London), Pan African Film Festival (Cannes), Headliner Movie at African Weekender (Sussex).
