Ghana Music Awards 2010: GhanaCelebrities Predictions

Ghana Music Awards

On Saturday 10th April, 2010, all the attention will be shifted to the Dome at the Accra International Conference Centre, where the 11th edition of the prestigious and biggest entertainment show, Ghana Music Awards will be held.

Radio presenter from X-FM, actor and host for Stars of the Future, Miss Malaika and Rhythmz TV, Chris Attoh will host the 11th edition of the Ghana Music Awards alongside host of Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix and Lunch Time Rhythms, Doreen Andoh.

Artistes to perform on the night to give unforgettable experience to the audience are gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy, Abrantie Amakye Dede, Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie, dynamic duos 4×4 and Wutah, Ghana Rap Osofour Obrafour, R2Bees, VIP, and international artistes such as Donae O and Wande Coal of Bumper to Bumper fame.

Don’t be left out of this experience.

Below are GhanaCelebrities.com predictions for the night. What we think will necessarily not be the outcome of the awards. Therefore we wish all the nominated artistes good luck

A. Artiste(s) Of the Year

The favourite Artistes to win this category will fall on the neck of Sarkodie, 4X4 and Bradez. The competition is straight between those three. SARKODIE will win this but I will not be surprised if Bradez pulls a surprise.

B. Most Popular Song of the Year

There are three songs I hear everyday when I go out, Simple by Bradez, Kotosa by Wutah and World Trade Centre by 4X4. 4X4 are one of my favourite but I don’t like the idea for their song. I feel it’s a mockery of 9/11. Kotosa is good but SIMPLE by BRADEZ deserves it more and will win it

C. Discovery of the Year
DSP Kofi Sarpong, the policeman turned gospel musician have only a popular song whiles Ayigbe Edem and Sarkodies rides on 3 and 4 popular songs respectively. This particular one belongs to AYIGBE EDEM because hes done what the likes of Reggie Rockstones, Kojo Antwis and Daddy Lumbas could have done but have turned deaf ears to it. He has resurrected the Ewe language in a Twi dominated game.

D. HipLife/Hip Hop Song of the Year
Ghana Music Awards is about popularity and that’s why THE GAME by OBOUR will win owing to the controversy it generated. Obrafour recorded Kaseibo because of that song therefore earning him a nomination in the same category. If Obour doesn’t win it Ayigbe Edem’s You Dey Craze will steal this. Good luck to Kwaku T & D Black also.

E. Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste(s) Of the Year
Wont it be weird of Bradez wins this since they were hoisted out of the hip life or hip hop song of the year because according to the various committees, Simple is not hiplife. Of course am going for BRADEZ but Ayigbe Edem and Sarkodie can also win it

F. Gospel Song of the Year
Well I don’t have interest in this category; Philia Baafi who a lot thought merited a lot of awards including this category last year ended not taking even a single award. Any of the song in this category can win it. But to make a choice I will root for OKYESO NYAME by FLORENCE OBINIM. Good luck to the rest.

G. Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year
If Okyeso Nyame by FLORENCE OBINIM wins the gospel song, then she should win this one also. If not anyone who wins it should have won the previous category.

H. Highlife Song of the Year
KOTOSA by Wutah will take this home. Their biggest contender will be Kofi B’s Afia Donkor.

I. Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year
This is an easy category. Kofi B ** should win this on silver platter.

J. Afro-Pop Song of the Year
This is where the problem is. Per the description all the songs here have enjoyed a lot of airplay both off and on radio and generated the most excitement during the year under review. Any of them can win but I will go for SIMPLE by BRADEZ.

K. Reggae Song of the Year
I am not really into reggae and not a fan of it either. Kojo Antwi is not a reggae artiste. I have not heard of Wutah’s Jah Will Be There so I think MAMA AFRICA by BLACK PROPHET will win it. This is based on hunch.

L. Best Collaboration of the Year
Kaseibo is another creative song. Asem & Irene’s run away was my initial take but the needless attack by Obrafour and Shata Rako convinces me that, this will go to THE GAME by OBOUR & OKYEAME KWAME. I will smile if Run Away by Irene & Asem or You Dey Craze by Ayigbe Edem & Sarkodie & Kwaw Kese wins it also.

M. Best Rapper of the Year
How come Bradez, a group, are in contention for rapper of the year? Will the award go to Kunta or to Stone? Why should a group be paired with individuals? By virtue of this, I think technically Bradez is out of this courtesy an anomaly done by Charter House. Calling Okyeame Kwame to ask him which of his brothers should be place in this category sounds like a real joke. Sarkodie can win this but my pick is AYIGBE EDEM, at least he’s won all the opinions polls.

N. African Artiste(s) of the Year
This is a straight fight between Bracket and Wande Coal. Why do you think WANDE COAL by NIGERIA coming all the way from Nigeria to perform on the night? He will be doing Bumper to Bumper as he collects the award. Bracket’s two songs No Easy and Yori Yori can also win the award for them.
