Ghana’s Right To Dream (RTD) Faces Estonia In The MTG United For Peace Cup Final In Norway In Today!

Right To Dream Academy (RTD) who emerged winners of the tournament supported by Viasat1, one of the leading television stations in Ghana are currently flying high the flag of Ghana in far away Norway. After winning the tournament dubbed ‘Peace United Football Tournament’ they picked the only slot to represent Ghana at the Noble Peace tournament in Norway.

Friday 8 October, the first day of MTG United for Peace Cup final was a busy and exciting day for the 130 kids from 12 different countries gathered in Norway’s capital-Oslo.

After the local football tournaments this summer, the winning teams from each country met not only to play football but also to make new friends and learn more about team spirit, tolerance and social integration.

The day began with a visit to the Nobel Peace Centre at the very same time that Liu Xiaobo was announced as the winner of this year Nobel Peace Prize. While at the Nobel Peace Centre, the children were informed and educated through an interactive School of Tolerance, to further their cultural understanding and integration.

The afternoon was dedicated to the football tournament pool games, with the 12 teams putting all their training in recent weeks to test. Fair play is at the centre of MTG United for Peace’s mission, so the players have been encouraged to bring not only their skills and commitment, but also the right attitude to the pitch.

Finals Matches Today

Boys Teams: Nõmme United ’97 (Estonia) vrs Right to Dream (Ghana)

Girls Teams: Cestria Girls (UK) vrs Team Romerike (Norway)

However, all the teams will be represented in the mixed final which is also scheduled to be played today (Saturday 9 October). The mixed final is another chance to build bridges between the kids and acts as a strong symbol for what the MTG United for Peace Cup stands for.

Football stars Jan Åge Fjørtoft, Chairman of MTG United for Peace, and Thomas Grönnemark attended the day, cheering on the teams and offering advice.
The main stars of the weekend are without doubt the kids themselves; their achievements are being filmed by Viasat Sport cameramen throughout the tournament.
