At the press conference to launch the festival, an Italian official in an interview with GhanaCelebrities.com said the concept for the festival is simple. “The event is meant for the two countries to sell each other to the other country”.
“For the first time, we are trying to bring Italian food to Ghana. There are lots of similarities between the two countries. We both love football very much. Also to entertain the community by organizing such events. We also want to sell the image of Ghana to Italy, because Italian press will also cover the program to Italian television”. He said.
He also explained what they hope to achieve with this festival “We are trying to achieve a mingling of culture. We want to bring Italian food to the people of Accra. For the people to taste what another country’s food is like. To know how Italians eat, what they eat and how it feels like”.
The Damba 3 Conference Hall is set to host the festival from the 11th to 16th September, 2010 at 6:30 each night. But the whole week festival will commence with a grand opening on the 10 day of September at the Adae Kesse Hall of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel at 6:30pm prompt (Not Ghana Time).
