Former Big Brother Stargame player, DKB clears his name

An article about Ghanaian comedian and TV personality, DKB was released online on the 20th of August, 2012 which talked about his claims that Ghanaians do not appreciate their own comedians.

Ecstasy Entertainment, management of DKB finds this article an attempt to defame their artiste, whom people already want to vilify. In their bid to depict DKB as a renegade, they used the title "DKB claims Ghanaians are unappreciable people" which is not only grammatically incorrect but also meant to sway Ghanaians into thinking he said they are unappreciative people. We want to state emphatically that he didn't blatantly say it as it was reported but rather he had a hypothetical approach towards it.

What brought up this topic was a phone-in interview session by Angel Fm, Kumasi, during an entertainment discussion when DKB was called to give his opinion on why it seems Ghanaians do not support Ghanaian comedians but prefer their Nigerian counterparts. He replied saying most Ghanaians do not give new/upcoming comedians enough chance to show them what they can do but rather compare them to the best and already established Nigerian comedians, resulting in the conclusion that the Nigerian acts are better off than the Ghanaian ones.

He ended by saying that anyone who wanted to do comedy in Ghana should not wait for all Ghanaians to support him before he launches his career, but should instead start by doing enough research with the little support he gets from the beginning and would gradually gain the support of the rest when they come to realise what he has to offer.

In other words, they should not rely solely on Ghanaian support for their careers to be successful, but also on their research and creativity which would make them better comedians.

These were the original words of DKB during the interview; he at no point stated that Ghanaians are "unappreciable" or unappreciative. The article published was a misinformation with irreparable malice intended. We would not take responsibility for the misdirected actions of someone but nonetheless sympathise with the readers who were in one way or the other hurt, provoked or offended by that said article. An unqualified apology from the writers to our beloved Ghanaians and our artiste-DKB would be appropriate.

Abeiku Santana initiates youth for President Mahama campaign

Ace radio broadcaster Gilbert Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, host of Okay FM’s late afternoon drive time show has openly asked the youth to aim at being like the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. A call which terms not political.

Talking to NY DJ, host of Kapital Radio’s host of Homestretch, Abeiku who sounded so passionate asked the youth of Ghana to emulate the very humble and hardworking nature of the president so as to win the confidence of both the elderly and the youth to better work for a better Ghana.

Citing the beginnings of the President from serving in parliament as an MP through to his current status as President of the republic, “He won the trust and admonishing of both the elderly and youth. Why would the NDC despite the old folks still want to endorse him as their presidential candidate?”

Abeiku Santana who has for the past fifteen (15) years worked diligently as a broadcaster reminded the youth of emulating the good qualities of the President which has won him the admiration of all and asks them a vital question if they would receive such endorsements should the elderly leave the forefront of our politics.

He further cited Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who was seen as a good option for the liberation of the then Gold Coast despite the presence of the elderly in politics.

This call he said is vital at this particular time in our politics as the world over has seen the essence of giving the youth a better chance of leadership with a clear example of the United States of America.

Nana Akua Addo at Glitz Africa Fashion Week with a dess made out of cement bag

Ghanaian actress Nana Akua Addo made a fashion statement on the last and final day of the hugely successful Glitz Africa Fashion Week with a dress made from bags of cement.

In all indication, her ‘strange’ outfit left an indelible mark on the minds of the patrons and onlookers at the event.

The three-day show at the Accra International Conference Centre commenced on Friday August 17 and climaxed on Saturday August 19. It offered opportunity for fashion houses, brands, models and designers the platform to exhibit their works to the world in a grand style.

Model and former beauty queen, Nana Akua graced the final day of the event and wowed patrons who occasionally obliged to steal a glance at her alluring costume.

Even though she didn’t cat-walk on the night, her outfit was enough to win her some attention and photo opportunities with fans.

From the moment she stepped on the red carpet to her final sitting place in the VIP, eyes rolled and turned to her direction as tongues murmured in finding out what the ‘hell’ she was wearing.

She probably would not have escaped Fashion Police if there was anyone but her outfit made her a fashionista of the night…

People lauded her boldness in wearing such an outfit and the designer’s creativity. From afar, the dress looks exotic and expensive but on getting closer, it was just made from an ordinary cement bag.

I’m not too sure if she’s aware of the publicity she is giving GHACEM but whats your take. Are you feeling her?

Check out the photos below

Would You Tattoo Your Wife/Husband’s Name On Your Body In The Name Of Love?

Just ask people on Facebook or Twitter to share their experience concerning the crazy things they have done in the name of “I’m in love” and you will be marveled at what you will read after.

I’m not asking you to tell me the crazy things you have done over the years [or still do] in the name of love. But would you gladly tattoo the name of your wife or husband on any part of your body?

I’m not against people tattooing their bodies but common sense tells me that, tattoos look nice and appealing on fair looking chaps, yet you often see dark looking folks tattoo their bodies as if their life depends on it.

Imagine having tattoo of your wife/husband’s name on a visible part of your body and suddenly the marriage hits the rocks.

What about having a tattoo of your boyfriend’s name on your breast and he breaks up with you shortly?

What triggered this piece is a story of veteran Nigerian actress Ayo Adesanya who after separating from the husband of many years is undergoing series of surgeries to clear off the tattoo on her body.

The story didn’t say which part of her body the tattoos are though.

In the name of love, she and the husband decided to have the same tattoo, but I guess now that the marriage has hit the rocks, she finds no sense in keeping them

Would you ever consider a tattoo on your body because you are in love?

I Have The Eye To See A Beautiful Lady … And So I Was Made Miss Ghana 2012 Judge – Majid Michel

“They actually said that, I have a beautiful wife so because I have a beautiful wife, I have the eye to see a beautiful lady”, Majid Michel, one of the celebrity guest judges at the Accra auditions for Miss Ghana 2012 said in his usual jovial manner.

And the winner of Miss Ghana 2012 is … not so fast, just hold it. Before the winner is announced, lets pause a little and look at the exciting prizes that the lucky lady would be taking home in addition to the coveted crown.

The would be Miss Ghana 2012 in addition to the first and second runners go home with an official car [one for each], a unspecified sum of money, tickets to London, employment opportunities, branding and ambassadorial opening, elegant household appliances from sponsors of the pageant.

It does not end there. The top three ladies qualify for a full educational scholarship worth several United States dollars to study with one of the best universities in the United States of America.

Also the eventual winner would be accommodated for a year with the two runner ups residing at the Miss Ghana House, which is donated by Manet Properties.

And the icing on the cake for Miss Ghana 2012 is to represent the country in the Miss World 2013. How exciting can it get?

And with the coming in of Exclusive Events Ghana, which is headed by former 2004 winner of the pageant, Inna Patty, it appears the oldest pageant in Ghana has taken its rightful place in the pageantry industry in Ghana in grand fashion.

Auditions for the 2012 edition started in earnest and it’s almost at its zenith. In the Northern Belt which comprises of Upper East, Upper West and the Northern regions, six beautiful young ladies were picked for the finals.

The Southern Belt which comprises of Ashanti, Eastern and Brong Ahafo regions also saw three ladies picked for the national finals. Now auditions are going on for finals ladies to be picked from Accra.

One of the twists in this year’s pageant is that, celebrities have been added to aid in judging the ladies for the final events. Being a proud media partner of Miss Ghana 2012, GhanaCelebrities.Com made a quick visit to the audition grounds at Golden Tulip for an observation.

Indeed, we were taken aback by the number of beautiful ladies ready to be auditioned. “The mad rush for this year’s Miss Ghana is indicative of how prestigious the brand is, and also speaks volume of its leadership role in empowering the Ghanaian lady,” Obed Boafo, Publicist for the Miss Ghana event said.

With over 200 ladies auditioned in Accra, Majid explained, further what they look out for in them.

“We are scrutinizing and screening the ladies to pick the best of the best and there is no compromising whatsoever. We are here to judge them, their intellect as well as their looks to see if it matches. If it doesn’t, you can’t make it through”

According to him, a lady cannot be beautiful and move around with an empty head hence the several auditions to test their intellect and how they talk, how they think on their feet and answer some witty questions.

For Majid who appears judging ladies in a beauty pageant for the first time, conceded the enormous challenges, they [judges] have encountered, partly due to the intelligent nature of the ladies.

No Evictions During The 2012 Edition Of The Miss Malaika Beauty Reality Series

THERE will be no evictions during the 2012 edition of the Miss Malaika beauty reality series. No evictions, is part of the many twist and turns planned by the organizers of the competition to revamp the series in commemoration of its 10th anniversary.

According to organizers, Charterhouse, the competition proper will begin with 20 delegates who will take part in a semi-final event scheduled for Kumasi later in August. Out of this number, 10 final delegates will be selected through votes from the general public and the Judges.

After this leg of the competition, there will be no further evictions till the grand finale in October 2012.The dreaded eviction shows that have marked the 9 previous seasons of the beauty reality series will certainly not be missed by the delegates or their supporters.

The 2012 Miss Malaika series starts airing on Sunday July 29, 2012 on GH-One entertainment TV. If what organizers have been touting since the auditions in May is anything to go by, then one can expect the series to be as exciting as it will be engaging.

The series on TV will begin with the auditions which attracted the largest number of prospective beauties when it opened in May. Viewers will get to meet the delegates for the first time and perhaps appreciate the amount of work that went into the selection of the 20 delegates who begin the competition.

The sponsors of Miss Malaika need recognition for their support because they invariably contribute toward the polishing of these young ladies into perfect ladies who are empowered to make important decisions in life. The sponsors are Lux Beauty Soap, Air Namibia, KIA and UB.

The rest are Legacy Hotels, Dark & Lovely Body Lotion, ATL, Safina Water, Simbins, Beige Village, Paba Cosmetics, Abrantie and Budget Rent-A-Car

To be Miss Malaika Ghana 2012, the winner must be beautiful, intelligent, charitable, creative, bold, eloquent, audacious, courageous, confident, positive and assertive. The journey to find this one Queen will be worth every single step.

Africa chose South Africa’s Keagan as the winner of AfricaMagic’s Big Brother StarGame last night (5 August on DStv Channel 197 & 198 at 20:00 CAT) – and rocketed him to superstardom and the massive USD 300 000 prize after 91 days of 24/7 drama and thrills.
Keagan, Kyle, Lady May, Prezzo, Talia and Wati were all in the running during the final week – but the man from Cape Town won Africa’s hearts and votes. Wati was the first housemate to be evicted on the night, followed by Kyle, Talia, Lady May and, finally, Prezzo. Keagan and Prezzo entered the game on two different sides – Downville and Upville, respectively – on 6 May and kept Africa entertained for 91 days.
The Big Brother StarGame Finale was a celeb-studded affair, kicking off with a special edition of STARGIST on DStv Channel 197, hosted by Vimbai Mutinhiri and Lawrence Maleka, who interviewed former Big Brother StarGame housemates, fans and business executives such as M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi and Olufemi Ashipa, Brand Manager Colas: Coca Cola Nigeria.
Stars of Big Brother seasons past were keen onlookers in the live studio audience, alongside VIP’s like Zinzi Mandela. African music superstars also took to the Big Brother stage to take the Finale to the next level. Nigerian hip-hop star D’Banj, Ugandan hip-hop powerhouse Navio, sizzling South African MC Khuli Chana, award-winning Ghanaian hip-life king Sarkodie and Nigeria’s phenomenal Afro-pop star Naeto C all rocked the stage, giving viewers a night they’ll never forget!
